📊 Rent indexation
Rent indexation is a mechanism for adjusting the amount of rent in line with changes in certain economic indices.
🔄 How does it work?
In France, rent indexation is based on an official index, such as the Indice de Référence des Loyers (IRL). Depending on the value of this index, the amount of your rent can be revalued upwards or downwards each year. This keeps the rent in line with economic fluctuations.
📅 When is indexation applied?
The rent is revised annually on the anniversary date of the lease.
📑 Does it apply to all housing?
This mechanism is strictly regulated by law. So, not all housing is affected by indexation. The rules also differ from country to country.
This clause is, of course, stipulated in your rental contract along with the calculation methodology.
