I have a disagreement or conflict with another roommate

We encourage respect, communication, and kindness within every shared home. A disagreement doesn’t necessarily mean poor cohabitation, but it’s important to address it at the right time and in the right way.

🧘 Step 1: Take a step back

Before taking action, take a moment to reflect on the situation:

  • Is this a one-time issue or a recurring conflict?

  • Is it due to a misunderstanding or a difference in lifestyle?

  • Is this something that could be resolved with a simple conversation?

💬 Step 2: Have a calm conversation

  • Engage in a direct, calm, and respectful dialogue with the person involved

  • Reach out to the Community Leader, if your residence has one

  • Seek a collective solution with all housemates if the issue is shared

👥 Step 3: Reach out to the Community Leader (if applicable)

Some Colonies residences have a Community Leader. Their role is to help manage community life:

  • They can act as a neutral mediator

  • They’ll help you find common ground and avoid escalation

📩 Step 4: Contact us

If the conflict persists or becomes too difficult to handle alone:

  • Reach out to us via your tenant space

  • Clearly explain the situation, staying factual and respectful

  • We’ll respond quickly to discuss possible solutions and support you
