How can I prove my address for administrative purposes?

It is common for you to be asked for proof of address for administrative purposes (bank, prefecture, CAF, taxes, etc.). Here’s how to proceed if you are a tenant at Colonies.

✅ What documents are accepted as proof of address?

As a tenant at Colonies, you can generally use:

  • Your signed lease agreement (PDF available in your tenant space)

  • Your most recent rent receipt or several recent receipts

  • A certificate of accommodation

These documents are personal, dated, and clearly indicate the address of the accommodation.

❗Important

Sometimes, certain administrations require bills to prove the place of residence (water, electricity, internet).

As you know, Colonies manages and pays for all these subscriptions. Therefore, the tenant’s name cannot logically be listed on them, and these bills cannot be easily provided to you.

Instead, you can provide one or more of the documents listed above with explanations – this is usually enough to resolve the situation. As a last resort, Colonies can issue a certificate of residence, but this is generally not necessary.

🔍 Where to find these documents?

Log in to your tenant space:

  • Go to the "My Documents" section

  • Select the relevant accommodation

  • Download:

    • Your lease agreement

    • Your rent receipts (under the "My Payments" tab)

    • A certificate of accommodation (if available)
