Am I covered by Colonies insurance?

đŸ‡«đŸ‡·đŸ‡§đŸ‡ȘđŸ‡©đŸ‡Ș No, except in Spain: you must take out your own home insurance. It is not included in the contract.

You must cover your room (or your unit) and, in shared flats, your share of the apartment, to protect against external damage or damage you may cause as a tenant.

Your policy must cover at minimum:

  • Rental risks (fire, explosion, water damage)

  • Your civil liability

  • Ideally, your personal belongings

For shared flats, indicate to your insurer the surface area of your room calculated pro rata to the number of rooms. Examples:

  • 100 mÂČ apartment with 4 rooms → indicate 25 mÂČ (100/4)

  • 130 mÂČ apartment with 6 rooms → indicate 22 mÂČ (130/6)

You are required to provide us with a proof of insurance at the start of the lease.
